Get treated for PCOD Naturally !!!

Poly cystic ovarian disease (PCOD):

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age. The name of the condition comes from the appearance of the ovaries in most, but not all, women with the disorder — enlarged and containing numerous small cysts located along the outer edge of each ovary (polycystic appearance).

Causes :

The exact cause of polycystic ovary syndrome is unknown. Early diagnosis and treatment may reduce the risk of long-term complications, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. However these factors likely play a role:

1. Excess insulin
2. Low-grade inflammation
3. Heredity

Symptoms:

Symptoms tend to be mild at first. You may have only a few symptoms or a lot of them. The most common symptoms are:

1. Acne.
2. Weight gain and trouble losing weight.
3. Extra hair on the face and body. Often women get thicker and darker facial hair and more hair on the chest, belly, and back.
4. Thinning hair on the scalp.
5. Irregular periods. Often women with PCOD have fewer than nine periods a year. Some women have no periods. Others have very heavy bleeding.
6. Fertility problems. Many women who have PCOD have trouble getting pregnant (infertility).
7. Depression.

Investigations:

To diagnose PCOD, the doctor will:

1. Ask questions about your past health, symptoms, and menstrual cycles.

2. Do a physical exam to look for signs of PCOD, such as extra body hair and high blood pressure. The doctor will also check your height and weight to see if you have a healthy body mass index (BMI).

3. Do a number of lab tests to check your blood sugar, insulin, and other hormone levels. Hormone tests can help rule out thyroid or other gland problems that could cause similar symptoms.

4. You may also have a pelvic ultrasound to look for cysts on your ovaries. Your doctor may be able to tell you that you have PCOD without an ultrasound, but this test will help him or her rule out other problems.

Treatment:

PCOD in Ayurveda is attributed to imbalance of three doshas. Through Ayurvedic treatments, PCOD is treated right at the root level that is at the level where imbalance is created.

Treatment includes

1. Panchakarma - Virechana, Lekhana Vasthy, Nasyam

2. Internal Medicines

3. Dietary guidance, and lifestyle recommendations.

There are many treatments available medically for PCOD but Ayurveda seems to be the most ideal answer to this syndrome as per various researched and case studies. Nowadays women prefer to rely on Ayurveda for the treatment of PCOD as unlike the various other lines of treatment; Ayurvedic treatments have no side effect and are long term in nature, apart from being cost effective.
