Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic non- contagious disorder which affects the skin and the joints characterized by faking of skin, redness and inflammation. This disorder is a chronic recurring condition which varies from minor patches to complete body.
Finger nails & Toe nails are more frequently affected. If psoriasis is not treated it may cause inflammation of the joints which is known as Psoriatic Arthritis.

Signs & Symptoms:
• Red or Pink scaly patches 
• It affects the areas over the elbows, knee and scalp.
• Severe dry skin or raised Skin
• Itching or burning sensation in the skin
• Restricted joint movements in later stages

Rheumatoid Arthritis:

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an inflammatory disorder in which all the minor & major joints are involved associated with pain and stiffness.
In Ayurveda Rheumatoid Arthritis is known as AMAVATA and is classified under auto immune disorder.Auto immune diseases occur when body tissues are attacked by their own immune system. Arthritis can cause inflammation and injury to the other organs in the body. The inflammation of Rheumatoid disease may also occur in tendons, ligaments and muscles and if untreated leads to destruction of cartilage, bone and ligaments causing deformity of the joints.

Symptoms:
• Morning Stiffness in all the joints
• All the small joints and wrist joints are inflamed 
• Restricted movements with painful joints
• Swelling of the joints
• Inflammation is usually symmetrical 
• Low grade fever


Lab investigations to rule out Rheumatoid Arthritis:
• High ESR
• RA may or may not be positive
• Anti CCP
• ANA 
• CRP
• Hb

Treatments:
• Panchakarma treatments such as Kshira Vasthi, Virechana 
• Choornaswedam or rukhsa sweda
• Internal medications
• Avoid day sleep, curds, sour, salt, hot items to avoid.
